The NFL will continue staging at least two games per year at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium through the 2029 season, the league announced Thursday.

The deal with the Premier League soccer club is a two-year extension on their original long-term agreement to play regular-season games at Tottenham’s $1.6 billion facility.

Tottenham’s stadium was custom built with an NFL field below the Premier League team’s moveable soccer pitch. The grass soccer field splits into three sections before it’s moved to make way for the astroturf underneath.

The stadium, which features designated NFL locker rooms and capacity seating of nearly 63,000, has hosted six games so far.

“NFL gamedays at our stadium are special occasions where we see fans from around the world descend on Tottenham, bringing so much vibrancy to the High Road and supporting our local economy,” Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy said.

Under the deal, the stadium gets an official designation as “Home of the NFL in the UK.”

Wembley Stadium has hosted the majority of the NFL games in London, starting in 2007.

Three NFL games are scheduled in the British capital this season; one at Wembley and two at Tottenham.

The Jacksonville Jaguars play back-to-back games — first against the Atlanta Falcons on Oct. 1 at Wembley before facing the Buffalo Bills the following Sunday at Tottenham.

Spurs have been transformed over the summer despite losing talisman Harry Kane, with Ange Postecoglou - named Premier League manager of the month - overseeing a remarkable mood change to sit second in the standings.

Even an early Carabao Cup exit appears to have been quickly forgotten as Spurs look to maintain momentum before next week’s north London derby.

The Blades, meanwhile, have one point from their opening four games and know their plight will not get easier anytime soon. Not since 1991 have they won this fixture away from home.

Spurs suffered an injury scare to Cristian Romero during the international break, but the centre-back is fit after heading back to England. Richarlison has spoken about personal struggles away from football affecting his form, and Postecoglou says the forward will play this afternoon.

Giovani Lo Celso is another week or so away from returning after picking up a thigh injury. Rodrigo Bentancur, Ryan Sessegnon and Bryan Gil should be back after the next international break with the Uruguayan taking his latest step on a long road to recovery.

Sheffield United could hand a second debut to James McAtee, while Anel Ahmedhodzic is fit. The Blades are likely to be without key players, though Paul Heckingbottom did not specify who.

Spurs fans know this is the type of banana skin their club have fallen foul of over the years to dampen the mood at the unlikeliest of moments, but the players will be up to put on a show in just their second home game of the season.

Tottenham Hotspur return to action when they play Sheffield United on Saturday. Ange Postecoglou's side have made a blistering start to the new season, collecting ten points from a possible 12 from their first four games of the campaign.

United, meanwhile, are 17th with only one point to show for their efforts which came after a 2-2 draw with Everton at Bramall Lane last time out. Because Spurs' game against the Blades has not been selected for live television coverage in the United Kingdom, the game has been left in its original Saturday 3pm slot.

Saturday afternoon games are not permitted to be shown live domestically because of the long-standing blackout rule in place preventing live football from being broadcast between 2:45pm and 5:15pm on a Saturday. Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Liverpool is taking place at lunchtime while Newcastle United vs Brentford is the televised evening kick-off.

AFC Bournemouth vs Chelsea and Everton vs Arsenal are this weekend's Super Sunday matches with Monday Night Football seeing Nottingham Forest play Burnley. Spurs, meanwhile, will have their game broadcast worldwide with the Premier League's broadcast partners including beIN SPORTS in the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey on its satellite channels and Connect streaming platform.
